Virtual Instruments :

Virtual instruments are powerful software programs which make use of sampled instruments in a much more usable way than just playing a single sample.

For example, using our string instruments, the modulation wheel of the keyboard emulates the bowing strength and thus produces a different tone as opposed to simply a difference in volume.

With a great deal of skill and understanding of the real instruments and arranging, the results can be very effective indeed.
