Following the huge popularity of our sophisticated Hip Hop track “Urban Symphony” , we’re adding more  tracks to the collection.

Each track is a mixture of authentic hip hop beats and production combined with the sophistication of a classical string section. Also, each track contains multiple edits, loops and stings.

Street Walk is an edgy track with  a great, boomy  kick drum and authentic urban loops. The strings gives it a classy edge, with the catchy melody on top.

Urban Class is a more classically influenced track, especially towards the end when you hear a full on baroque style accompaniment from the strings.

You seem to like them and we’re having fun with these, so they’ll be more on the way.

We’ve just added some wonderful new tracks from our electronic music composer Jon Cooper and he’s just gone all acoustic on us!

And it’s brilliant.

He’s applied his usual, wonderful minimalist approach and innate musical taste to these 3 acoustic tracks:

Dreamers combines a mellow, laid back beauty and a modern quirky approach to instrumentation. Acoustic guitar, glockenspiel and accordion, arranged with great confidence.

On a Hill combines the acoustic guitar with an ethereal synthesizer but manages to create a warm, human feeling throughout.

You Complete Me is a beautiful, warm, touching, solo acoustic guitar track.

Also, we’ve currently got about 4GB of great music waiting to be added………and a brand new site on the way!

We’re very excited to announce that work on our brand new version of smartassmusic.com has begun.
Since the current site has grown over the past 2 years, we realize that it’s become increasingly difficult to search quickly for the music that you’re looking for so we’re building you a new site from scratch!

I don’t want to say too much now but our focus will be on speed and search and we’ll  have an additional part to the site which I’m really excited about………….but that’s under wraps for now!

We added a few great new tracks of electronic music by Jon Cooper recently.

He’s never one to let us down and these tracks are the same high quality you’ve come to expect!

Glasshouse is a subtle electronic track full of space and intertwining melodies, with an overall glass and metallic texture.

Electrotek is another very cool track with a great bass line and smooth melodic lines over the top.  Perfect for fashion or cool technology.

Defenders is a more aggressive track with a hard bass line and great use of synths throughout.

We’ve just added some more great electronic music from Jon Cooper.
Jon composes the best electronic music I’ve heard in ages and these tracks are certainly up to his usual high standards.

As I mentioned to Jon, this style of music is usually done so badly that my brain is saying ”I hate it”  before I’ve listened to it, but Jon’s tracks draw you in, in a way that all good music does. I find it interesting, hypnotic and beautiful.

We’ve been really hard at work behind the scenes recently, with a major site re-organisation and one of the first updates to be implemented is to make life more simple for you!

More improvements and updates coming very soon

If you create your own podcasts then you will certainly need great music to accompany your fabulous new show.
There’s actually a great choice of music available on the Internet for podcasters but there’s two vital things to watch out for: is it legal? and is it good quality?

To be sure that your podcast music is “podsafe” or legal, you really need to buy music from a royalty free music library or independent musician who specifically gives you the rights to use his or her music.
The SMARTassMusic standard license gives you the right to use our music as much as you like in your podcasts and many other projects too!
And did I mention….there’s free tracks too and yes, you’re welcome to use these in your podcasts absolutely free.

The other important point is that of quality. Our music is crystal clear audio quality and available for instant download as both WAV and high quality MP3 files (192kbps).
You shouldn’t sacrifice quality for bandwidth when producing your podcasts and any audio compression less than 128kbps containing music, is going to be noticably poor.

Some of you may have noticed a few subtle changes at SMARTassMusic lately.
We’ve implemented a great deal of improvements to the site(s) over the past few weeks as well as some high quality royalty free music of course.

For our USA visitors you now have www.smartass-royalty-free-music.com on a US server so that it loads even quicker for you. We’ve compressed a lot of the pages to help loading times and implemented a rather cool new music category menu. This looks like the previous one but should be much better to use – it’s certainly a lot more fun, give it a try!
In addition we’ve resolved some login issues that we were having with AOL customers and generally improved the overall ease of use of the site.
For UK visitors you have your own www.smartass-royalty-free-music.co.uk which is hosted in the UK and faster loading than the previous versions. The information from one site is duplicated to the other so you can login and purchase from either server.
Our stock music packages are more flexible now so that we can offer collections of entire tracks on our front menu. We’ll be putting more of these royalty free music collections together over the coming weeks. I should point out that they’re also great value as you get 2 free tracks!
