Following the huge popularity of our sophisticated Hip Hop track “Urban Symphony” , we’re adding more  tracks to the collection.

Each track is a mixture of authentic hip hop beats and production combined with the sophistication of a classical string section. Also, each track contains multiple edits, loops and stings.

Street Walk is an edgy track with  a great, boomy  kick drum and authentic urban loops. The strings gives it a classy edge, with the catchy melody on top.

Urban Class is a more classically influenced track, especially towards the end when you hear a full on baroque style accompaniment from the strings.

You seem to like them and we’re having fun with these, so they’ll be more on the way.

We’ve just added some wonderful new tracks from our electronic music composer Jon Cooper and he’s just gone all acoustic on us!

And it’s brilliant.

He’s applied his usual, wonderful minimalist approach and innate musical taste to these 3 acoustic tracks:

Dreamers combines a mellow, laid back beauty and a modern quirky approach to instrumentation. Acoustic guitar, glockenspiel and accordion, arranged with great confidence.

On a Hill combines the acoustic guitar with an ethereal synthesizer but manages to create a warm, human feeling throughout.

You Complete Me is a beautiful, warm, touching, solo acoustic guitar track.

Also, we’ve currently got about 4GB of great music waiting to be added………and a brand new site on the way!

We’re very excited to announce that work on our brand new version of smartassmusic.com has begun.
Since the current site has grown over the past 2 years, we realize that it’s become increasingly difficult to search quickly for the music that you’re looking for so we’re building you a new site from scratch!

I don’t want to say too much now but our focus will be on speed and search and we’ll  have an additional part to the site which I’m really excited about………….but that’s under wraps for now!

We’ve just added some more great electronic music from Jon Cooper.
Jon composes the best electronic music I’ve heard in ages and these tracks are certainly up to his usual high standards.

As I mentioned to Jon, this style of music is usually done so badly that my brain is saying ”I hate it”  before I’ve listened to it, but Jon’s tracks draw you in, in a way that all good music does. I find it interesting, hypnotic and beautiful.

Amnesia - a real positive, 80’s synth track executed with great taste!

We’ve been really hard at work behind the scenes recently, with a major site re-organisation and one of the first updates to be implemented is to make life more simple for you!

More improvements and updates coming very soon

A warm welcome to new composer  Michael Taylor from Australia. I love the quality of Michael’s Orchestral scoring.  Among other tracks, we’ve added several Hollywood style adventure tracks which, quite frankly he’s saved me days of work as I know exactly how much time goes into producing audio of this quality. These track are great for adventure scenes, fight scenes, sci- fi and the gernerally, best video you’ve got.

 The blog’s been quiet recently but we certainly haven’t been slacking!
Among the many things we’ve been doing is adding some really good new music to the collection.

The first new batch to be uploaded was a new set of up-beat, positive electonic tracks by Jon Cooper. I’m personally a little wary of electronic music styles  because they’re very easy to do badly but Jon keeps coming up with really interesting tracks that draw you in with great melodic ideas and a fine sense of space and scale.  He’s really one of the best I’ve heard.

“Dissolution of Memory” great electronic kit with a heavy synth bass and great use of space.
“SuperKolidor” energetic percussion with a dramatic piano and synths.
“The Blue Lounge”  hip-hop backbeat with classical style piano and synths.

So many people have visited our site looking for “Carousel” music (you know, the merry-go-round, fairground music)  that we just had to write a carousel track and it’s ended up being one of my personal favourites.
Have a listen to Carousel Waltz, it’s slightly melancholc, yet insanely catchy faiground ride music. This track is available to download either as a single track, individual edits/loops or the whole package of 9 edits.

We’re delighted to introduce a new young composer to SMARTassMusic- Jon Cooper.
Jon’s composing style is synth based ambient music …….and I know what you’re thinking……”we’ve heard that a million times before!” BUT………..these tracks are full of style, subtlety and great production quality and I’ve found myself listening to them when doing site maintenance. 

My personal favourites are:
Alpha - a really beautiful, enticing ambient, atmospheric track Neuromancer and Suspension.

In fact, we think that this music makes perfect atmospheric underscores so we’ve put a collection together of 12 electronic, ambient background tracks “Ambient Underscores“.
