I came across this today and was so impressed-I signed up immediately and then found myself engrossed in the video tutorials and I’m a guy with very little time! And no, I’m not being paid 🙂
Video Production Tips is one of the best video orientated blogs around and they’re giving away a free online video production course (worth $67).
Don’t be put off if you get the pop up window – personally I hate those things but I couldn’t resist and I happily gave away my email address.
I was given a password to the protected area of the site which contains some really great tips (in the form of videos) on all aspects of video production, including lighting, scenery, titles, stop-motion, editing and lots more. There’s also some additional tutorials (which are available on YouTube) covering things like Windows Movie Maker, green screen techniques, file formats and camera info.
Video Production Tips is run by video professional Lorraine Grula, who has over 30 years experience in video production, working primarily in the Nashville, Tennessee Video and TV News market. Lorraine has created video stories on every subject imaginable and has worked primarily as a hands-on field producer, photographer and video tape editor.
Lorraine took her expertise into the classroom and spent two years teaching high school TV Production, building a small-town program into a nationally recognized one. Her students won over forty-five awards in just two years worth of teaching, including the National Association for Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Student Award of Excellence, the equivalent to a high school Emmy.
Even if you don’t sign up, there’s loads of information here that’s useful to anybody and everybody interested in video production!
Hi, we’ve got some great new tracks this week, firstly from Jon Cooper– auguably the most tasteful electronic music composer around and also from a new composer to SMARTassMusic, Richard Banks.
Jon has just uploaded “Magna Carta“, a superb electronic chillout track and “City on Fire“, a beautiful chillout track.
Richard Banks is a highly experienced composer from the USA, with many, many TV credits to his name. His musical style is varied from optimistic, corporate style to great hip hop style tracks and the quality is superb. Check out Richard’s music here:

Futre Punked – A heavy chillout track with superb use of synths and heavy backbeat
Ashtar – a great up beat, stylish electronic track
More on the way……………….
Ps Hi Jon 🙂
For all you lucky Mac owners, the guys at the fantastic iCreate magazine have chosen to feature SMARTassMusic on their cover CD.
They approached us for promotional material for the covermount CD and we offered them 10 high quality tracks to include within issue 69, out now in the UK .
They’ve been blushingly nice about us and have requested music for the Dutch version as well as more music for the following edition.
I have to say it really is a superb magazine and well worth a look. I seriously don’t know where they get the time to pack so much into each month!
Talking of having no time……the blog’s been quiet.
Sorry, simply a totally overwhelming amount of work to be done with a large amount of gigs and orchestral arrangements. Even though the workload is still high, normal service is resuming and we’re rolling out some important improvements and new tracks.
More of that later!
Some more great additions to the SMARTassMusic royalty free music library-Country Blues tracks by Guy Zerafa.
Each track is beautifully played and recorded and includes acoustic guitar, fretless bass, harmonica or violin and percussion.
Have a listen to:
Taragh – a laid, back, sultry Blues piece with harmonica
Wrestling with Angels – smooth, country blues music with violin,
See Ya Later – a fun, cool blues track with harmonica.
You can also download a collection of 10 of these tracks (saving you lots of $$ 🙂 )
Country Blues Collection 1
More on the way………
You’ll find a collection of 10 tracks in our packages section
We’ve just added some more great electronic music from Jon Cooper.
Jon composes the best electronic music I’ve heard in ages and these tracks are certainly up to his usual high standards.
As I mentioned to Jon, this style of music is usually done so badly that my brain is saying “I hate it” before I’ve listened to it, but Jon’s tracks draw you in, in a way that all good music does. I find it interesting, hypnotic and beautiful.
Houseofanthria – A minimalist, positive, up beat synth track
Ayla – a chillout, subtle , laid back, positive track.
Amnesia – a real positive, 80’s synth track executed with great taste!
Just a quickie to say that it’s been quiet on the blog lately because we’ve had a massive site re-organisation to take care of.
You’ll notice that our site “smartass-royalty-free-music.com” no longer exists and has been merged with www.smartassmusic.com. This was no small undertaking but now everything is far more tidy and logical within the single site.
We’ve added some great new tracks with scores more to follow this week. I’ll post shortly with details.
We’ve been really hard at work behind the scenes recently, with a major site re-organisation and one of the first updates to be implemented is to make life more simple for you!
Our new entirely Royalty Free, single Blanket Media License means that once you purchase a track, you are covered for just about any media usage (Film, TV, Radio, Internet, Multimedia, CD, DVD) as long as you use the music within a production (combined with images, video or a voice-over). You are also covered for “in store” music as well as “music on hold”.
1 License, 1 Price, Multiple Uses – No more confusing licenses and prices.
Full details can be viewed here.
More improvements and updates coming very soon 🙂
You know those really frustrating weeks where nothing goes right?!
For the diligent amongst you, you may have noticed some “ghosts in the machine” at SMARTassMusic this week. On Friday I noticed some missing tables in the DB, which was very strange and possibly due to a server error. We got this fixed as soon as possible and on Monday we started with a big server upgrade to give us more than double the space and a faster server.
Unfortunately this coincided with more DB tables dissappearing and the server upgrade meant that we couldn’t access the system to correct this until the transfer was complete. This took all week!!!!!.
The site was in fact fully functional for almost the entire time although access to many tracks was impossible through the searh facility. This did not make me a happy bunny :-((
I’m glad to say that everything has been restored and process of moving to a new, bigger, faster server is now completed.
Personally, I want this site to provide superior quality content, quickly and easily and believe me, any downtime frustrates me hugely, as those around me will testify!
Sincere apologies if anybody was inconvenienced but everything is back working and with far more resources.
Actually we have big improvements which are already under way and we should be rolling them out soon 🙂
More great music is waiting to be released very soon.
