Founded by James Treweek in 2000 SMARTassMusic is run with the help of a network of experienced professional UK musicians.
Having trained classically in Piano & Clarinet, he majored in Jazz at University, studying with Leon Cohen-one of the UK’s most knowledgable Jazz musicians and an experienced film and TV composer and arranger.
Upon gaining a degree in Music he returned to Middlesex University to teach Jazz piano for a further 7 years.
Jim has been lucky enough to have worked with some of Britain’s greatest Jazz artists, including:
Pete King, Alan Barnes, John Etheridge, Jim Mullen, Gerard Presencer, Derek Nash, Bobby Wellins, Rex Richardson, Mark Lockhart, Mick Hutton,Clark Tracey, London Musici, & Anita Wardell.
He was also musical director for the jazz trio and the West End’s “Rat Pack” band for David Beckham (with Elton John as support).
Recent work includes the “Sugababes“, Michael Gray and Sky TV.
