SMARTassMusic was founded by James Treweek in 2000 with the original intention of providing clear, intelligent, affordable written arrangements to musicians and producers.
As SMARTassMusic has grown alongside the rapid improvements in computers and virtual studio technology, we now combine traditional arranging skills with modern digital music production.
Our music can now be heard worldwide on TV, Radio, and many multimedia sources.

James trained classically in Piano & Clarinet, he majored in Jazz at University, studying with Leon Cohen-one of the UK's most knowledgeable Jazz musicians and an experienced film and TV composer and arranger.
After gaining a degree in Music he returned to Middlesex University to teach Jazz piano for a further 7 years.
Jim has been lucky enough to have worked with some of Britain's greatest Jazz artists, including:
Pete King, Alan Barnes, John Etheridge, Jim Mullen, Gerard Presencer, Derek Nash, Bobby Wellins, Rex Richardson, Mark Lockhart, Mick Hutton,Clark Tracey, London Musici, & Anita Wardell.
He was also musical director for the jazz trio and the West End's "Rat Pack" band for David Beckham......(with Elton John as support).
Recent work includes the "Sugababes", Michael Gray and Sky TV.

Recently playing for "We Will Rock You" in London's West End, Mike has toured & recorded with many great musicians including-Wang Chung, The Brian May Band, Cozy Powell, and Walk On Fire and was signed to RCA America. Mike was a principal member and songwriter of the last Cozy Powell Band prior to Cozy's untimely death, and the album featuring Mike's music was released posthumously.
Originally from Russia, Alex worked as an arranger, pianist and orchestrator for Russia's Lenconcert state organisation as well as a music director for theater, TV, and studio recording as an arranger and conductor.
Alex was a regular guest conductor for the Radio and Television Orchestra of St. Petersburg, the Lenfilm Stage Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory.
From 1985 until his immigration to Canada in 1993, Alex scored 14 theatrical and television films and documentaries

Liz Radford has enjoyed success as a songwriter and travelled the world as a performer (playing keyboards, violin). She�s also written and played in theatre musicals, and performed as an instrumentalist with artists as varied as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Boy George!
Gavin Courtie played bass guitar working as a freelance player and toured widely across the UK & Europe in the '90's with several artists, including Dove Award winner and Grammy nominated Margaret Becker, Chris Eaton (Janet Jackson, Amy Grant), Brian Kennedy (Van Morrison, Riverdance), Grammy nominee Jessy Dixon. With a keen ear for sounds and an interest in programming, studio work came his way and he started to develop his writing, arranging and engineering skills, culminating in producing records for Alliance Records, Small Dog Records and But! Records.

is a professional saxophone player, teacher and composer based in south east London. he has recorded for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and various commercials and CDs. More unusual credits include playing the sax solos on the latest Joan Collins workout video and appearing live on Channel 4 playing tenor sax dressed as a gorilla!
Jon specialises in synth based, electronic underscores and grooves. His use of subtlety, understatement and musicality make his music stand apart from others in this genre.
